About Sector Seven
(Don't ask me where the name came from
though :))
My first serious effort put into making a decent website was sometime
in summer 2001. I didn't really intend to make it as a showcase
or portfolio site (plus I didn't have much work to showcase, to
begin with :)), the initial purpose was to practice my favorite
hobby: Graphic design, thus Sector Seven V1 was born. I like and
appreciate all forms of art and design, specially user interface
designs, digital illustration, and photography.
Change is good
("Progress is a nice word. But change
is its motivator" Robert F. Kennedy)
As you might have already noticed, the layout, or interface, for
this site changes very frequently, some versions didn't even make
a full month online! The reason? I like experiment with different
styles and techniques, and as I already mentioned, it is the best
way to practice your design skills. I try to be different as much
as possible in my designs, which is not an easy task considering
the mammoth amount of design-related websites on the Internet
these days.
Most of my interface designs are heavy on graphics, and sometimes
it gets really difficult to get everything to work right in different
browsers or at different resolutions. However, I usually take
my time in making sure that the final product as cross platform/browser/resolution
consistent as it can be. Noticed any glitches or something wrong/not
displaying right, etc..? Then help me a better designer and let
me know of it.
Software quiver
(These are not the only applications I
use, but they are the ones I like to use/most experienced with)
The "Rig":
 |
MSI KT333 Ultra 2 mobo with AMD
Athlon 2000+, and a 256 MB of DDR RAM. |
 |
Geforce 2 MX (considered the caveman's
graphics card now, I know) |
 |
Mouse, keyboard, etc...you know, other stuff
you find with a computer :) |
The mandatory F.A.Q.
(a.k.a. the chunk of ego-bloating, arrogance-reeking,
silliness that has to be on every design site :S)
Wanna affiliate?
Sure, unless your site has generic animated GIFs all over and
randomly playing MIDIs. I'll link you if your site has an ounce
of design decency.
Make me a layout and I'll love you forever?
I appreciate all the love, but I am a student and you know how
it is. If you're interested in my work, I will offer you professional
service and great pricing (P.S. I can also accept non-monetary
compensation, like a killer graphics card or a 30 inch plasma
monitor :-D ). For more info on my design services, see the services
page.
How did you make that?
I believe in knowledge sharing, that's why I have a tutorial
section on my site. I learned what I know so far from a combination
of personal experimenting and other's people's knowledge that
they shared. I get a lot of email asking me how I did this effect
or that, and I do try to answer them all...yes, I've written complete
tutorials in emails for some people, that's why I've decided to
include a tutorial section on my site since version 7. I know
they are not a lot, but that's due to the fact that I write tutorials
that will really teach you something unique (I hope) not the generic
effects that you can find all over the Internet.
Hey there..I used some of your stuff
on my site, you wouldn't mind would you?
Unfortunately, I DO mind. I have put time and effort into making
all the stuff you see here, and I am not a big fan of the idea
of someone using my designs without my knowledge or consent. Of
course you can use certain things for personal use, such as the
wallpaper section, the downloads
section (which contains an extensive tutorial+PSD and HTML template
on making your own simple site), but I repeat, for personal use
only please. If you want to use any of my copyrighted content,
please contact me and I will see what
I can do.
Why did you write this F.A.Q. when you
hate F.A.Q.s?
Everybody has an F.A.Q.!! Why can't I then?
:)
